Homemade Beef Tostadas

These Homemade Beef Tostadas are my family’s number one most requested meal. Brett asks for them every birthday! Ha! Me? I want to go out for dinner. Brett wants me to make tostadas. I guess that goes to show they’re pretty darn good.

We have shared a similar recipe, but for Breakfast Tostadas. It’s almost the same recipe, just instead of eggs, we are using ground beef. BUT, you can do chicken, carnitas, or even just skip the meat all together! That’s what I love about this recipe. It’s simple and you can make it with whatever ingredients you want or have on hand.

Perfect for large groups

I think one thing that I love about these Homemade Beef Tostadas are that they’re great for a large group too. We are always looking for good options for large group get togethers and these are great! You just make up the base and then everyone puts on their own toppings, which is so fun. It’s also nice sometimes to change it up. Everyone loves tacos, which these tostadas essentially are, but slightly different. It makes it more interesting!

Homemade tostadas

Let’s talk about the homemade tostadas for a minute! These, in my opinion, are what truly make the recipe so good! And they are honestly, not hard to make. They taste so much better than the store-bought ones! It’s absolutely worth the five extra minutes it takes to make them. Plus, I like that you can control the ingredients. It’s simply corn tortillas with the oil of your choice (I do avocado oil) and salt! SO easy!

And the rest of the recipe is just layering in things that you like! Tostada, bean layer (I do refried pinto beans but black would work too), cheese (I use DF for the girls), and then all of the amazing toppings you have on hand. Lettuce, cilantro, pico/salsa, guacamole or avocado, lime… so good!
