When making traditional, full-fat, creamy and delicious ice cream, you’ll want to use @prairiefarmsdairy heavy whipping cream, whole milk, and cream cheese! We love working with local brands that we love. Prairie Farms is a dairy cooperative that is owned by about 600 farm families from across the Midwest, including Wisconsin. Their award-winning dairy products are made from fresh milk that goes from the dairy farm to grocery store shelves in just 48 hours! It doesn’t get any more fresh than that.

This base recipe is the one I always make ahead of time and keep in the freezer. We then customize it with different toppings. I added some strawberry Jam and shortbread cookies to this one! We also make mint oreo ice cream quite a bit. For that one, simply add 1/2 tsp mint extract and three drops of green food coloring to your base (before or after freezing) and 3-4 oreo cookies for min-ins! It’s seriously so easy!

Creami Vanilla Ice Cream base:
1 ounce Prairie Farms cream cheese
1/3 cup sugar
3/4 cup Prairie Farms heavy cream
1 cup Prairie Farms whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or other extract like mint)

Directions:
1. Combine cream cheese with 1 tablespoon of heavy cream and microwave it for about 30 seconds. Stir until combined.
2. Add 1/3 cup sugar & 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream. Fill the rest of the container to the fill line with milk, give it a stir, and pop it in the freezer.
3. After 24 hours, take it out and pop it in the Creami. I like my ice cream more like soft serve, so I hit the ‘lite ice cream’ button, but you could also just hit the regular ice cream button for more solid ice cream. I then add some fun toppings and pop it back in and hit the ‘mix-in’ button. You can eat it like that or add more toppings like I did here!

When it feels like summer out and I don’t know what to make for dinner, @hyvee is my go-to for grilling essentials and quick sides! I stopped by Hy-Vee last week to grab burgers and chicken skewers to throw on the grill, Old fashioned potato salad, chips, salad, and watermelon! Everyone loved it and we all agreed that dinner tasted like summer.
