I worked at The Healthy Place for about a year and Katie has worked there for almost two years now! We not only love the products they sell, but we truly believe in them. There is absolutely a time and place for western medicine, but there are SO many natural options out there there have zero side effects and could be an option for so many.

That being said, we want to share some of our favorites with you! I (M) worked there as a Wellness Consultant and was fortunate enough to go through their rigorous 6 month training program and learned a lot about the benefits of many of the supplements they carry. So we will share our favorite supplements for adults and kids.

Our Favorite Supplements

Curcumin

If you have an inflammation or pain, this is a great alternative to Tylenol or ibuprofen. It is the active compound in turmeric (what gives it the orange color) and is one of nature’s most powerful anti-inflammatories. It’s healthy to take both preventatively (everyone has inflammation) and also if you’re struggling with something.

Omegas 3s

Omegas are probably my favorite supplement. They are essential fatty acids that every cell in our body needs to function at optimal levels. They are healthy for everything from your heart to helping with mood and anxiety. I also notice they help my skin a ton too! If you aren’t eating fish (like salmon) a few times a week, you’re likely deficient in Omega 3s.

Probiotics

Probiotics are healthy for gut function. They promote regularity, help with the production and absorption of some vitamins and minerals and also help strengthen the immune system. Health starts in the gut!

CBD

We have both used CBD and I have also given it to my dog for her arthritis and joint pain! It helps so many things… the top two being pain and stress/anxiety. It’s also a great sleep aid if you struggle with your sleep. It’s on the pricier side, but it’s worth it and such a great alternative to most drugs!

Blood Builder

Katie is slightly anemic and loves Blood Builder! It’s a vegan supplement that helps increase iron without the typical side effects of an iron supplement (like nausea). It is made from whole food ingredients like beets and oranges.

Elderberry

Elderberry is a great natural immune booster. We take a heavier dose in the winter when sickness is going around, and a maintenance dose in the summer just to keep our immune systems strong!

Multivitamin

Most of us aren’t eating the servings of fruits, vegetables, quality meats, etc. that we should. Multivitamins aren’t necessarily meant to replace food, they are meant to supplement our diets. So while it’s important to eat well, a multivitamin is also a good idea. 😉

Magnesium

Magnesium is a mineral that most people are deficient in and it is needed for hundreds of functions in the body! From headaches to digestive health, it is extremely helpful.

What about the kids?

My (M) kids take most of the supplements that I mentioned above. I give my girls probiotics, omegas, multivitamins, elderberry, vitamin D and magnesium daily. I have worked with our functional medicine Dr. to get them on the right doses based on their needs! We love our routine and I am so happy with how well they seem to be doing on these regularly.

Besides our favorite supplements, what else do they have?

They have so many other great products. When I go in there, I’m like a kid in a candy store. I love their Plant Therapy essential oils. I love Molly’s Suds laundry detergent. I love the Dr. Bronner’s bar soaps. Don’t get me started on Nuun tabs. (ha!) They carry so many amazing, healthier alternatives!

As you can see, I spend quite a bit on money at The Healthy Place each month, but it’s because I believe in the products and absolutely love what they are doing there. Like Katie said in our post, I have seen firsthand what these supplements have done for people’s lives and it gives me goosebumps every time. They are literally changing lives!
