One of our goals with Everyday M&K is to help make life easier for you and your family. When we were thinking about this post, we both sat down to think about the kitchen tools that we use regularly that just make our lives easier and better. We didn’t go out and buy new items or search Amazon to share them, we have these items in our own kitchens! So here they are, our favorite tried and true kitchen gadgets:
This meat chopper is so helpful when it comes to making tacos or browning meat for spaghetti. I used to use a wooden spoon to break up the hamburger or ground turkey, but this guy makes my life so much easier. I also love how it allows you to chop up the meat so finely without all the work it would take by using a spoon.
Ok avocado lovers. This is a must. It’s an all in one tool that helps open the avocado, pit it and then slice it. Hello. It’s especially helpful for work. You don’t have to cut it in advance (hello, brown spots) or bring a sharp knife with you to work. This guy does it all and gets used ALL the time.
I went back and forth on a good blender for so long. But after hearing and reading so many good things about the Vitamix, I spent the money and got one. I am so glad I did. This blender is extremely powerful and is amazing for smoothies, soups, making oat flour, nut butter and more! If you’ve been considering it, you won’t regret it. This is something I plan to have in my kitchen for many, many years!
If you’re a coffee lover like me and like cream in your coffee, you need a hand frother! It makes the coffee taste so much better and makes you feel fancy like you got your morning coffee from the coffee shop. You simply add your coffee creamer, milk, nut milk (or whatever), froth it and add your coffee! SO good.
This is one of those tools that isn’t totally necessary and you can use a spoon to get the same result, but these cookie scoops make life so much easier. They especially help make them all the same size. I use my cookie scoops for cookies (of course), meatballs and the larger ones for muffin/cupcake batter, etc. There are so many uses!
I have been using Stasher bags for a few years now and I absolutely love them. They are a little pricey but have almost completely replaced our plastic bag use – which is amazing for the planet! Stock up on these and reduce waste!
Logan was gifted this stuffed burger press by his mother one Father’s Day a few years ago. I use it all the time to shape falafel (it’s SO handy) and Logan makes burgers with it all the time. His favorite ‘stuffings’ include jalapenos, bacon and cheddar cheese. I like to make caprese burgers stuffed with tomato, fresh mozzarella, and basil from the garden! This press is sure to elevate your burger experience this summer! 😉
Logan was gifted this set of 2 stackable ice cube molds a few years ago by one of my friends who has always been a fantastic gift giver! The ice cubes fit perfectly into rocks glasses and make your drinks feel so fancy! 😉 Top with some whiskey or alcohol of choice you’re set!
To say WE LOVE THIS COLD BREW MAKER is probably the understatement of the year. Our friends Amanda and Pete make the world’s best cold brew – like THE BEST! After having it at their place a few times, we were sold. We HAD to get an iced coffee maker. I told my friend Mary (who was in PR at my old job) that we wanted to get one and she said she had a brand new one at her apartment that she would just give us. Because she worked in PR, she was gifted this cold brew maker from Oprah. (Not really Oprah herself, obviously, but her team. lol) It was actually included on ‘Oprah’s Favorite Things’ list one year so y’all KNOW it’s good! It is so easy to use and we always use our favorite coffee, Cameron’s Vanilla Hazelnut. A 2pm cold brew in the summer makes my heart happy.
If you have been following us for a while, you know I am in love with my cheese grater that doubles as a storage container. This was also a gift. This came as a gift with some delicious cheese from my friend Angie one night when their family came for dinner! It is one of her favorite kitchen gadgets and now it is one of mine! I love that it has a rubber grip ring on the bottom that keeps it from sliding and makes it so easy to use! I love that it doubles as storage for the freshly grated cheese and it comes with two grater tops – one for cheese and one I use for zesting lemons, limes and oranges!
Ok, so this is also a favorite that I have mentioned a few million times. I married into a cheese family. Logan’s Uncle owns Carr Valley Cheese. Cheese people know cheese knives and this cheese knife is the best. That’s all I need to say. 😉
The Stasher bags that Melissa loves are absolutely better for the planet than plastic bags, but sometimes you just need plastic bags, am I right? I love these bags for a few reasons. #1. The top tabs never rip when you try and open them. Do you ladies know what I am talking about? It drives me nutty. #2. They are cute colors. Yes, this stuff matters to me. Fun colors make me happy. I am a graphic designer, of course fun colors make me happy. #3. The price is always right at IKEA! 😉
I saw this pistachio bowl on The Barely B’s Holiday Gift Guide this past Christmas and I knew Logan had to have it! We buy the big bag of pistachios from Costco because our family loves them so much, especially Logan. This clever little bowl sits right on our kitchen island so we can consume insane amounts of pistachios daily. Also, it makes for a good conversation piece. Every single person who comes to our house asks about it.
So this is the only product that is on this list that we do not actually own. I own a set that is exactly like these, but from IKEA. I could not find mine to link anywhere, so I found these and they have great ratings. I love them for one reason – convenience. You know when you have to just cut up an apple for the kids or maybe a lime for your 5pm cocktail (these days it’s more like a 3pm cocktail #quarantine) and you don’t want to get your big fancy wooden cutting board dirty? Maybe you don’t know what I am talking about, but I just grab one of these for those small chopping jobs. I love them!
Logan and I have had this coffee maker for years. Back when we were researching what coffee maker to buy (I should rephrase this… when LOGAN was researching) we saw the ratings for this simple coffee maker were unbelievable. I mean, this is the brand that almost all restaurants use, so it has to be good. Well, we got it and we love it. Not bells and whistles, just one damn good coffee maker!
This was yet another gift! Logan got me this popcorn maker for me one Christmas and it is used weekly in our home! I love it because the kids can help, we use avocado oil and then make our own seasoning blends. We are also very particular about the popcorn kernels we use. We like Badger white kernel corn!
This was a wedding gift, so we’ve been using this guy going on 12 years now! I love it because it makes cutting things so fast and easy. I also use it to cut batches of energy bites – when they are frozen and hard to cut, you can put all of your weight over the cutter to get the job done. Does that make any sense?
We like sparkling water. WE LIKE IT A LOT, so we make it. We like to flavor it ourselves and make mixed drinks. It is so easy to use, it’s almost laughable. I mean, you are just adding air to water. 😉
Just what Melissa said, only a different brand of high quality blender. It’s a tiny bit more affordable than the Vitamix. Don’t skimp on a blender, get a good high-powered one if you are able to. It’s worth the investment.
Logan got me this food processor for a gift this past Christmas. In true Logan fashion, he researched the crap out of every single brand and model and came to the conclusion this one is the Cadillac of food processors. I love it! I use it for everything – pie crusts, nut butters, scones, etc. It also chops veggies like a dream!
This is Logan’s grill that he is absolutely obsessed with. The grill connects to an app that tells him the internal temp of the meat and allows him to change the temperature of the grill with his phone. Tons of amazing recipes are also found on the app and can be programmed from the app to the grill. He also swears by the consistent cook of the grill. Because we all benefit from the amazing food that comes off of this grill, it is for sure one of our favorite tried and true kitchen gadgets!
We have owned this for years and just recently started to experiment with it! We have had so much perfecting our ice cream recipes. Logan’s specialty is dark chocolate Oreo. It’s seriously the best ice cream we have ever had.
What is more fun than a great wine glass that just makes you HAPPY?! We love the modern shape of these glasses. They look great on your display shelf and we usually reach for these when having a class with neighbors, family or girlfriends. We are suckers for great glassware!
Ok, this popcorn bowl is just fantastic! We share it often and many of you agree! This gives you perfect, microwave popcorn without all the oil, butter and junk in the store bought bags. Easy-to-use, collapsible, inexpensive, great quality – a WINNER! If you don’t have this yet, trust us, just get it.
