Southwest Turkey Burgers

These Southwest Turkey Burgers are giving us all of the summer vibes and we are LOVING it! Did you know it’s officially summer now? Give us the warm weather, cookouts with friends, juicy fruit and swimming. I just love how carefree and fun summer is.

We love having people over in the summer (and being smart with everything with Covid this year of course). I love hearing kids yelling as they run around the house barefoot. And watching them swing on the play set. I love the smell of a campfire and a good cookout. I love fireworks on the 4th and picnics out and about. Summer in Wisconsin is the only thing that keeps me living here. So I try to soak up every minute of it that I can!

But let’s talk about these Southwest Turkey Burgers! First of all, they are so good and pair really well with our Sweet Potato Fries and Sriracha Aioli. I actually love putting the aioli from that recipe right on the burger. YUM! And while we are talking about toppings, let me tell you what else I love to put on them. Avocado is a must. Tomatoes, lettuce, red onion and even bacon are all great options as well. I really think that the burger is only as good as the rest of the toppings you add to it!

Southwest Turkey Burgers

These Southwest Turkey Burgers make the best addition to your summer cookout with friends! They go really well with our sweet potato fries and our sriracha aioli!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb. ground turkey (or chicken)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup red onion
  • 2 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes (optional)
  • pepper jack cheese (optional)

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients.
  • Using a 1/2 cup scoop, scoop the meat and form patties with your hands.
  • Grill the burgers until fully cooked and meat is no longer pink.
  • Serve the burgers on a bun or with your favorite salad and add a large spoonful of our sriracha aioli!
