Heat 1 tablespoon of olive or in a skillet on the stove over medium-high heat.
Add garlic, red pepper, and onion and saute until soft - about 6 minutes.
Transfer the garlic/red pepper and garlic mixture to a food processor and add in all the rest of the ingredients except the bread crumbs. PULSE - DO not blend.
After you have pulsed a few more times, add in the bread crumbs and pulse a few more times. You just want to make sure to not over blend so the consistency is correct.
Form your black bean burger into patties by scooping out about 3/4 cup into your hands, forming them into a ball.
Squish them down on a baking sheet lined with (oil sprayed) parchment paper until they are the shape and size you like for your patties. You can also use a burger press! We have one and it works well!
Let them chill in the refrigerator with saran wrap over them for at least 1 hour. Then bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees, flipping halfway through.
